Hla Maung Win, 23, and son of U Hla Kyaw Thein from Kyauk Tong village was arrested by infantry 378 on March 12 while he was taken to Mrauk U hospital by ambulance for his malaria sickness. He is tortured and killed during the interrogation. Four other charity workers and ambulance driver are still in the military station. Family members are barred to meet the arrests.

More than ten Buddha statues were destroyed inside Laymyethnar Pagoda of Mrauk-U. According to the villagers near the pagoda, the images were destroyed at the night of Wednesday (17/10/2018), but it is still unknown who have done it. And the investigation is still ongoing. The pagoda is one of the most important in Mrauk-U Archaeological Site.
